Ways of the Qilin at 999bd – Start a Slot Adventure with a Mythical Creature
Ways of the Qilin is a slot by PG Soft built around the Qilin, a mythical creature from Eastern legend. The game features 6 reels and hundreds of ways to win, and is available to play at 999bd. This guide covers the game's features, betting strategy, and tips for avoiding common mistakes.
The Mythical World of the Qilin – What Kind of Slot Is This?
Ways of the Qilin is a full video slot by PG Soft. The game's theme draws from Chinese and Eastern mythology — the Qilin is a sacred creature regarded as a symbol of good fortune and prosperity. The background features mist-covered mountains and a golden glow, creating a distinct atmosphere with every spin.
The slot is arranged across 6 reels and 4 rows, with 4,096 ways to win — meaning there are no fixed paylines; instead, matching the same symbol on adjacent reels from left to right counts as a win. PG Soft designed this game with medium-to-high volatility in mind, so big wins are possible but may require patience.
- 6 reels × 4 rows — 4,096 ways to win
- Wild, scatter and multiplier symbols
- Free spins bonus round

How Do You Win on a Spin?
From placing your bet to the bonus round — learn how every step of Ways of the Qilin works in plain language.
Choosing Your Bet
Before each spin, you select a total bet amount. The game typically lets you adjust coin denomination and bet level, so it can be played on both small and large budgets.
Ways to Win System
To win across 4,096 ways, the same symbol must land on adjacent reels from left to right. The exact row does not matter — as long as the same symbol appears on neighbouring reels, it counts as a win.
Wilds and Multipliers
The Qilin symbol acts as the wild — it can substitute for any regular symbol. On certain spins, multipliers are added, which can multiply the win amount several times over.
Free Spins Bonus
Landing a set number of scatter symbols on the reels triggers the free spins round. Multipliers can be even higher during this round, and there is also a chance to retrigger additional spins.
Symbols, Bonus Round and Maximum Win
The symbols in Ways of the Qilin follow traditional Eastern designs. High-value symbols include a golden dragon, lotus flower, phoenix, and gold ingot. Lower-value symbols feature coloured gemstones.
You need three or more scatters to enter the free spins round. During the round, every wild becomes sticky and each new wild adds to a multiplier meter. The maximum win in this game can reach several thousand times the base bet, though this is not guaranteed as slot results are entirely RNG-based.
PG Soft has also added a "Risk Game" feature to this game, where players can optionally try to double a small win — though this also carries the risk of losing the entire amount won.
Who Is This Game For?
Budget and Session
Ways of the Qilin is a medium-to-high volatility game. That means small wins do not come often, but a large win can arrive all at once. Players who prefer longer sessions should keep enough balance set aside per session.
Medium-High VolatilityExperience Level
New players can get into this game easily since the interface is straightforward. However, it helps to understand how the ways-to-win system works in demo mode before playing with real money.
For New and Experienced PlayersUnderstanding Volatility
Simply put — high volatility means fewer wins, but bigger ones when they do come. Low volatility means frequent small wins. Ways of the Qilin suits players who can wait patiently for a big win.

What You Should Know Before Playing
Start in Demo Mode
Demo mode is available for many PG Soft games at 999bd. Before putting in real money, use the demo to understand the game's mechanics — especially how the free spins are triggered.
Set a Budget for Each Session
Before each session, decide the maximum you are willing to spend. In a high-volatility game, your balance can drop quickly, so setting a budget in advance is the sensible approach.
Follow Your Stop Limits
Set a win limit and a loss limit in advance. For example, stop when your balance doubles or when you have lost a set amount. This habit supports disciplined play over the long run. The responsible gaming guide covers this in more detail.
Common Myths About Slots
Many players believe things that are simply not true. Knowing these myths will help you play more carefully.
"This slot is due for a payout now"
Many people think that if a slot has not paid out for a long time, it is "ready to pay." This is completely false.
RealityEvery spin is controlled by an RNG (Random Number Generator), so each spin is entirely independent. The result of a previous spin has no connection to the next one.
"Betting bigger after a loss will recover what you lost"
Trying to recover losses by placing bigger bets — known as "loss chasing" — is extremely dangerous.
RealityEach spin starts fresh. Betting more does not increase your chance of winning; it only increases the risk. If you are losing, the sensible move is to stop and come back the next day with a clear head.
"Play enough spins and the bonus round will definitely come"
Some players believe that if they play long enough, the bonus round will eventually arrive.
RealityThe bonus round triggering is also entirely RNG-based. It may not appear over many spins, or it could appear in two sessions in a row. There is no guarantee tied to a specific number of spins.
"Playing at a certain time of day means you win more"
Some people believe you win more by playing at night or in the early morning.
RealityDay or night, the time of day has no bearing on slot results. The RNG works the same way at all times.
How Does It Compare to Other Slots at 999bd?
The ways-to-win system in Ways of the Qilin is different from traditional payline slots. In standard payline slots (such as those with 20 or 25 paylines), symbols must match along specific lines. In a ways-based slot, it does not matter which row the symbol lands in — as long as the same symbol appears on adjacent reels, it is a win.
Some other PG Soft games, such as Mahjong Ways or Fortune Tiger, follow a somewhat different pattern. Mahjong Ways uses a tiles mechanic, while Fortune Tiger is built on a simpler 3-reel structure. Ways of the Qilin offers more reels and more bonus features, giving you the chance to play at a larger scale.
Megaways slots (such as those from Big Time Gaming) go even further — sometimes offering over 100,000 ways, with reel height changing on every spin. Those games are available in the 999bd slots section, which carries a range of slot types from various developers.
Alongside slots, the 999bd live casino section features live baccarat, roulette, and Teen Patti with real dealers from Evolution, Ezugi, and other providers.
Slot System Comparison
- Ways of the Qilin: 6 reels, 4,096 ways, sticky wild multipliers
- Payline slots: fixed lines, simple structure, easier for beginners
- Megaways slots: dynamic reels, ways change every spin
- Classic slots: 3 reels, less complex, good for quick sessions
